 On Saturday, May 12, 2001, Texas College, in Tyler, TX, bestowed upon the Rev. William E. George, the General Secretary of the Department of Publications, the Doctor of Divinity degree.  Dr. Billy C. Hawkins, President, officiated and was assisted by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Bishop Marshall Gilmore, in the hooding ceremony.
     Dr. George was greatly impressed with the exemplary work being done by Texas College, and with family and friends present, he pledged $100,000 to the College, to be paid in one year. He is shown above presenting to Bishop Gilmore the first $25,000 at the meeting of the East Texas Annual Conference held at the Best Western Hotel, Longview, Texas, June 28, 2001.
